Q & A: There's A Man In The House!

We're doing something a bit different today. Usually we have a lot of fun just passing our problems back and forth to each other. But today, we're taking it a step further. One major issue we women always seem to have is understanding the male of the species. So today, we're going to take on that male mystique and find out what makes it tick. Brindle Chase, male author of mainstream erotic romance, is our guest. AND he's offering to answer all our questions about JACK. Who's JACK? Well, Brindle will tell you. So get all your questions about the great Alpha male ready. No holds barred. All questions will be answered.

Stop by Brindle's
WEBSITE and take a look at his books. He has a free read up at Barnes and Noble--click HERE. And GOTHIC CITY LIGHTS is his newest release from Loose Id Books--click HERE. Before I give the blog over to Brindle, why don't we read the blurb for Gothic City Lights!

t was just a fling. Lilith Templeton had no clue he was a human agent working for the angels. No big deal, but she got caught and Mother Superior, Portland’s most powerful angel, wants penance. Or death, Lilith’s choice. Being a lowly half-demon and therefore not a participant in the never-ending war for souls, she knows it's insane to cross the full-blood demons like Mother Superior wants. But opting out isn't an option: do or die. For additional penance, she's paired with an angel who not only ignites her lust but something more. Lilith wants to fall in love, to know what it was like to share herself with just one man. Yet since succubi needed to stay sexually satisfied, falling in love with the angel of chastity is a mistake she can’t afford.

Gabriel would have never second-guessed his choice to ascend through the virtue of chastity. Until he meets Lilith. Now, his ascension would be forfeit if he cannot vanquish his need for her. Having no choice but to ignore the fire burning inside them, they work towards tempting the demon cult’s human leader into revealing the hideout. Lilith, sexually irresistible half-succubus, is the perfect bait. Get in, send the signal and wait for the angel to rescue her. Oh and not get killed, or tempt the angel. Simple, right?

Okay, time to turn it over to Brindle. Remember, all questions about the great Alpha male are welcome. Don't be shy. Brindle's not. LOL

Think you've got the perfect romance hero? You don't know Jack.

Today, I'm not Brindle Chase... I’m Jack... a romance novel hero. I'm a former sheik--still a billionaire--turned secret agent-corporate raider who sometimes volunteers as a fireman. I drive a Ferrari when my Lamborghini is in the shop, I'm devastatingly handsome, and I’m trained in six deadly forms of martial arts. But my life is incomplete. I’m shallow. Vague. Sure, I look amazing... in fact, I'm fricking gorgeous. I mean, check out these abs... nice, huh? But there's more to me than that... isn't there? To write me, is to know me.

Ask me anything you want to know about the romance hero... but fair warning, my answer will be from the male perspective! Nothing is off limits, so ask away!

Okay, Jack. I'm loaded for bear...errr...Jack. I want to know why it is you big ole Alphas always think you can have what you want--mainly the heroines in my books! When I give my ladies the least bit of resistance to your charms, you come back at her even stronger, more determined. What's up with that? Did it ever cross your mind that she'd be better off with a Beta?

Brindle Chase said...

Thank you, Tess for the question. That's an easy one. Because I claimed her. Once I've decided she is mine, nothing will stop me from having her. I know she doesn't really want a cry-baby wuss beta. She wants me-she wants me to take her, and show her passion. To show her want a real man is. Play hard to get all she wants, but I will have her.

Cassie Exline said...

Since you brought it up, Jack, when you decide you want her, is it more appealing if she continues to resist, before succumbing to your charms? Or do you want her to give in gracefully and become sappy sweet? What kind of woman, really turns on you big delicious hunks? Spice and sparks? Or sweet and shy?

Tess MacKall said...

Oh yeah, I forgot. YOU claimed her. Okay, but what is it in your psyche that says YOU can claim and it's a done damn deal? HUH?

Tess MacKall said...

ooooooo good question, Cassie. Like that. Yeppppper.

Molly Daniels said...

I'll chime in here...is it all about 'the chase', and going along with Cassie's question, once you've 'caught' her, is she less appealing if you've 'caught' her too quickly? Or is it more along the lines of the less accessible, the more the pursuit?

Brindle Chase said...

Hi Cassie, that is an excellent question. I'd be lying if I said there was no appeal to a submissive, worshipful woman who immediately succumbs to my desires. But that is a fast burning candle and when the wax is all gone, often so is the attraction. She'll need something after that to keep my interest.

Shy has a very sexy appeal. Mysterious and it makes me want to gently peel away her layers and find her soft sweet spot and tenderly stroke it. Mmmmmmm.

Spicy is great too, especially if she's fiesty. Get my blood pumping and I'll want her all the more. Passion comes in many forms, but a woman born of fire will always find her way into my bed.

Brindle Chase said...

Dear Tess... I would not claim her if she did not wish it. But I know she does. When I pin her against the wall and feel the pounding of her heart against my chest, the fire coursing beneath her skin and the glint of lust in her eyes... all these things defy her snarled lip, narrow glare and uptilted chin. And when I finally claim her lips, the truth is no longer in shadow. If, by some rare miracle, she didn't want me afterall, I would then know for sure.

Brindle Chase said...

Hi Molly. Another great question. The length of chase isn't what matters. If she continues to stir my blood, my need and want of her, I will keep chasing. Once I've caught her, a whole new game begins and it would be her passion that kept my attention from then on. If all she had to offer was the obvious prize, I'd take it, but it would take more than a sound shagging to keep me coming back for more.

Brindle Chase said...

Just another thought about the "chase". It build up. Desire, lust, passion all builds up the longer the chase, if the enticements are encouraging. But the payoff once caught, needs to be equal. Whatever you're baiting me with, is the value of the chase. Make me chase as long as the value holds. But if the value of the prize at the end is found wanting, then it was all for nothing.

Anthology Authors said...

Obviously, Jack, you haven't learned that "no" really does mean "no." (g) I've had to teach a few men that in my lifetime. (g) Do you ever take "no" for an answer? What if the woman really means it?

Brindle Chase said...

Hi Anthology. You bring up an important point. Even domineering men like myself understand no means no. I'm a hero, not a villian. I would never take a woman against her will. Attraction is an electrical current. For an electrical current to exist, it must have two ends. Me and Her. If she really means no, the current will not exist to begin with and thus, there wouldn't be that attraction. I don't even bother with the no means no type of woman, because she has sent no signals inviting me. But come on, look at my picture up there. How often do you think I am told no?

As it pertains to the stories I live in, the romance heroine might say no, but her body is hyperactive with electrical current, arcing between us like some strange gadget from Dr. Frankenstein's laboratory. Her body is saying "oh hell yes" and so I press her until her mind admits she wants me too.

Anthology Authors said...

That's good to know, Jack. And you are right, there has to be attraction. With the way you look, I don't think you find it hard, er, you don't find attracting women hard, that is. (g)

So, do you have a preference of how a woman looks? Are you attracted to brunettes, blonds, red heads, etc? What part of the body attracts you first?

Brindle Chase said...

Hi Anthology. Well, variety is the spice of life. There is not really one type per se. All women are beautiful and each for different reasons. The ones who attract my attention are beautiful for who they are. It is her passion, her innocence, her kind heart, her fiery temper, her zest, her laugh. I have been with heroines who are size zero and heroines who are 24+ in size. Tall, short, medium. Long hair, short hair, even bald. A woman is beautiful because she is, not the wrapper she wears. But above all, passion is key. She will be passionate about me, above all else. She can be the shyest woman in the world, but in the still of the dark, in the heat of the night, she will come alive for me.

Tess MacKall said...

You know, there's been a lot of discussion on a couple of groups I belong to about that "no means no" thing.

Specifically with regard to the capture/bondage genre. How far is too far? Where do YOU as the great Alpha male draw the line, Jack, and how do you know when to draw it?

Do you consider what is politically correct or do you follow the lead of your heroine and take it from there.

Sarah Masters said...

AAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA @ one of Jack's comments: but it would take more than a sound shagging to keep me coming back for more.

Shagging. What a giggle-worthy word!

:o)

Brindle Chase said...

That's a really good question, Tess. I think at any time the heroine feels intimidated or pressured or forced, is over the line. Her only motivation for receiving my sexual advances, should be desire. I don't want anything else. If she's giving me, pardon the phrase, a mercy f**k, I don't want it. If she's doing it, because she's afraid I'll hurt her in some way, I don't want it. There are signs that are no on the outside, but mean yes on the inside. Those are lines I will cross if she is that special to me.

Believe me, if she really means no, her body language will back up her words. I will always abide a no, if it's truly a no. There are however, some romance heroes who will cross lines I wouldn't dare. I think they are fools. Why in the world would I want a woman, who didn't want me just as fiercely?

Ultimately, she will determine where the lines are. I might try to convince to loosen them... but I would never cross them.

*winks*@ Sarah

C. Zampa said...

Okay, big guy. And,yeah, Tessie knew THIS was coming! LOL!

CAN you cry? Do you EVER cry? And, if you DO ever cry, what gets the old faucets going?

Tess MacKall said...

What took you so damn long, CZ? LMAO

Harlie Reader said...

One question if you are still there....have you ever met a woman that is more Alpha than you?

Brindle Chase said...

A great question C... I have never cried. But, I can. It's hard to say what would make me cry. I try not to think about such sad things. To never meet my one true love... that would be something to bring tears. But I will meet her... And when she says "I do"... that might do it... and the birth of our child will bring a tear to my eyes. All in joy.

In sadness... I hate to imagine it. But if fate struck her down before her time, that would bring more than tears... it would kill me. The same for our children. There are things that can rend a tear from me. I am not callous.

C. Zampa said...

Ah, Alpha Dear! Perfect answer! You don't have to cry, you just have to be able to.

And...and...the fact that you don't want for sad thing to happen that would make you cry...that's the true heart of a good, strong alpha! If you were TOO tough, you'd only not cry because you'd be afraid it would emasculate you. A strong, confident man can't be emascualted that easily.

Oh, what a perfect answer!

I dub the, Alpha, the true romance hero!

Oh, and, Tess...would have asked sooner, just at work ad couldn't stop to read the blog. LOL...But I enjoyed it so!

Brindle Chase said...

An excellent question Harli. I have met women who are as opinionated, strong-willed, stubborn, independent and as possessive as I. Not more. And we fight like cats and dogs... but all that passion always leads to the bedroom. When we've exhausted ourselves of the fight... we can peacefully coexist.

Harlie Reader said...

So no one has "tamed" you yet? Or do you even want to be tamed? ;)

Anne Rainey said...

Okay, Jack, I'm curious. Have you ever met a woman that made you want to get on your knees, bow your head and say, "Yes, Mistress?" Because to me an Alpha who is also willing to submit for his woman, is truly the sexiest thing ever.

Brindle Chase said...

Harli, I have not ever been tamed, nor am I looking to be tamed, so to speak. But I believe I could be. She would be one hell of a woman to do so. I never say never. She might be out there. In the meantime, I enjoy doing the taming.

Harlie Reader said...

You're so bad! But that's why you are so good, too. ;)

Brindle Chase said...

Hi Anne. That's an interesting question. I haven't.. not completely and always. A woman that would only want me on my knees and subservient to her and only her desires should check out at that line over there of pussy-whipped, betas. They are a dime a dozen and eager to serve a mistress.

I definitely enjoy submitting to my woman's desires, but I have my own and if it's all about her, hrumph... Hasta la pasta, babe! I need a woman who will match my passion, and be just as eager to please me as I am to please her.

On the other side of the coin, I wouldn't want her to submit only to my desires and have none of her own. I would be incomplete. Half empty. My perfect woman completes me, and I her... We would serve each other, endlessly, rapturously.

Anne Rainey said...

You misunderstand, Jack. It's not all about her. That's not why she wants you on your knees. It's more about giving into each other's desires. Taking a single evening and allowing her to arouse you, to set the pace.

I would think an Alpha who is confident in himself would gladly hand over the reins from time to time. After all, it's a lot of work to be the one in control all the time... ;-)

Harlie Reader said...

I agree with Anne. Don't you ever want to lose control every once in awhile and let her control the tempo?

Tess MacKall said...

Now Anne has brought up something interesting I think. And I get what she's saying. But I want to take it a step further.

Can an Alpha ever be a submissive in a BDSM relationship? Can he be a switch?

Brindle Chase said...

Oh, I see what you mean Anne. Then yes. Absolutely. I don't have to be in control all the time. There is no set quota to be met. I would love for my woman to take charge of the bedroom from time to time. Her pleasure means a lot to me.

Brindle Chase said...

Tess, it's possible. But the domme would have to be very careful about his alpha tendencies. A switch is more likely.

For him to be submissive, she would need to be meeting all his needs and never tread on those things he deems as his possession/territory. If he considers her his mistress, he would be fiercely loyal, but as an alpha, he has a pride you would not wish to step on. Submissive yes, doormat, no.

Anne Rainey said...

Her pleasure means a lot to me.

Now that's an Alpha I can wrap my reader heart around. :)

Harlie Reader said...

Anyone still here?

Brindle Chase said...

Oh, I'm sorry Harlie, you snuck a post in there. I'm sorry I missed it.

As an alpha male, I thrive on being in control. But, I also trust in my woman. Handing her control is easy as it is fun. I do enjoy giving myself over to her and let her have her way with me, to let her lead our night and decide what pleasures my body will be granted.

Does that answer your question?

Melissa Bradley said...

As an alpha male, Jack, do you prefer women whom you need to protect and take care of or women who can take care of and protect themselves?

Brindle Chase said...

Hi Melissa, great question. Truth be told, it does chaffe the ego a bit if she doesn't need me to protect her. I do enjoy being her bastion of strength. Defending her against all comers. But a frail and helpless woman, who needs constant supervision and protection can be a taxing situation. She'd better be worth the trouble!

On the other hand, a tough-as-nails woman, who I can put my back against and know everyone but me and her are going down for the count, is a real turn on too. As long as she has a feminine side to her when it counts most and so long as she understands, there are things she is perfectly capable of, but should let me handle. For the right woman, I would gladly share the ass kicking.

Melissa Bradley said...

A good, well balanced answer there Jack. I like it. So what do you consider a feminine side?

Brindle Chase said...

Well Melissa, I think that varies from woman to woman. But, say this woman were the tough-as-nails type we talked about before. She's my partner in the field and we kick some serious ass. But the sun has fallen, and our adventure has brought us to a sophisticated dinner and dance. She looks stunning, with her hair down, long and shimmering. Her dress is sleek, accenting her amazing curves. Her long, toned legs turn every head in the room as she walks through with a confident, but feminine swish to her hips. Her full lips are hued red and glossed. Her luminous eyes shadowed in earth tones and traced with thick black lashes. She is every bit a woman... but if we're discovered, I know that tanto edged knife concealed in her garter will be out in a flash and she'll have my back as we kick our way out of there.

Does that make sense?

Melissa Bradley said...

Well, but there are those out there who will never don a dress, eschew makeup for the most part, prefer their stilettos to be knives, not heels and wear their hair short and spikey. Does this mean they would not be attractive to an alpha male?

Brindle Chase said...

There it would depend on the alpha and heroine in question. You seem to have someone specific in mind, so let me first ask you, would she be able to deal with an alpha male? Two alpha personalities will have a hard time dealing with one another.

As far as her looks, it has nothing to do with what would attract him. Her spirit sounds engaging, fierce and passionate, so it likely would attract him. Her dislike for "girly" things might draw a sigh of disappointment to some, but to others, it would be a breath of fresh air. So it depends on individual taste. Her feminine side still needs to be there, though. She needs to grant him immunity to her tough-as-nails persona, especially at lights out. He can be her equal, but not her lesser. If she can't share control, she'd be better off with a beta male.

Melissa Bradley said...

Thank you, Jack. Yes, I know women like this who would grant immunity at lights out. I'm happy to know that femininity in looks is not important. I had no one specific in mind, but rather a type. I have often been derided by some fellow romantics that women have to be girly in order to be successful with an alpha male. That she can be feisty, but she has to do it in a slinky dress because she has to "epitomize" femininity to drive an alpha man wild. I think there's nothing sexier than a tough guy salivating over a woman in worn jeans, hiking boots and a flannel.

You are right that two alphas would be contentious, but I also think it's possible for them to "tame" each other. That they can come together as absolute equals in a true partnership. Nothing is hotter than two alphas letting their guard down only when it's just the two of them.

Bianca Swan said...

Thanks Jack for fending our questions. I read each with the answer with great delight, but the book about the fallen angel spurred my imagination.

Harlie Reader said...

I would agree with Melissa. Letting your guard down is hot and shows that you can open up to woman.

And you are the biggest flirt! Loved your honest answers.

Brindle Chase said...

Most definitely Melissa. There is a larger gap than most imagine between not-girly and unfeminine. And yes, imagine the fireworks between two alpha personas! I think of Mr. and Mrs. Smith as a great example!

Brindle Chase said...

It was my pleasure Bianca!! Be sure to let Brindle know what you think of Gothic City Lights if you perchance to read it. =o)

Brindle Chase said...

*winks*@Harlie ...I've been accused of being a flirt in my day. Hehehe. Thank you for the tough questions!

Harlie Reader said...

Your welcome............deep and heavy sigh........ ;)

Melissa Bradley said...

Thank you for the great discussion, Jack. I appreciate your candor. I look forward to checking out those Brindle Chase titles.

Brindle Chase said...

Thank you everyone! And a very special thank you to our hostesses, the Four Beautiful and Strong Women. I'm sure Jack will return to entertain your questions again some day. For now, he's been called away on another secret mission. Apparently there is a naughty little double agent out their who decided she should defect. Jack is off to bring her back to the good side... one way or another! Kicking and screaming if he has too... writhing and mewing is his preferred method, though. Wish him luck!

Tess MacKall said...

Spoken like a true Alpha. He's off to flirt with another woman. sighhhh Well, ladies, we'll just have to look for a Beta. Hmmm...wonder where I can find one.

Looks like I'm off on another search, though. hee hee hee

Take that, Jack! We're gonna check out Betas!

Brindle, it seems that Jack is packed with energy and determination! And whoever found that pic to go with the blog, hubba-hubba!
