Please help us welcome Nicole Morgan. Oh, do I know this feeling!

Okay, not really. I actually love my computer. It was an affordable option at a time when I really needed a laptop. And it's been really very good to me over the past year and a half. It's not the computer itself. It's the work that needs to be done on the computer on a daily basis. I mean how many hours is a woman supposed to be able to sit in front of a computer all day long before it becomes inevitable that she will go completely BSC (aka bat sh*t crazy)?
I'm sure many authors out there will agree that it's hard to manage the multitude of tasks that we have in this day and age of publishing in the 21st Century. Between general promoting, interacting with our fellow authors and hopping all over the net to both spread the word about our books, but also help our colleagues, there are times when I run out of enough hours in the day to even write.
Ahh...but, of course I start off every day with a "master plan" to be super productive the first couple of hours so I can spend the rest of day offline and doing nothing but what I love the most, writing. *sigh* That would be so nice. Still, no matter how many times I start every day with this resolve of turning off the little internet option on my laptop it never happens.
Now, I could ask you all to share with me your tips on how to better manage my time, get more accomplished and be the best that I can be, but I won't. See, this is a mini-rant. I'm a frustrated woman at the end of my rope who just wants one of you to please, for the love of all that is good and righteous in the world to please, please invent a machine that stops all time so I can catch up and *POOF* I'll say, "look at all I got done today!"
*Sigh* If only... If only...
Okay, back to work I go, but I would just like to say that out of all the ways I would like my butt to hurt, having it sore from sitting too much was not what I had in mind. Grrr...

Holy sh** do I every sympathize! I opened my email this morning after a day and a half of staying away from the Internet. I nearly fainted when I saw the amount of work waiting for me after only a day and a half!
Covers to approve, ARCs to go over, blurbs to write, forms to fill out, blog tour commitments to fulfill...{whimper}
Oh add in editing and I wonder how I ever got anything done when I had a day job! But I heard somewhere that the authors who succeed are the ones who just keep going, plug along, and never give up
So...no matter how disorganized or overwhelmed I feel, that's what I try to accomplish. And we do have the very best job in the world...so when I lie awake thinking OMG how will I get done...I usually end up smiling.
Good morning (late) ladies.. I've already had myself a typical Monday morning. LOL. I'm so glad to see that I'm not the only one who just wants to throw things. ;)
Nicole :)
If you figure out that time-stopping machine, please, PLEASE let some of the rest of us in on the secret--that would be an answer to prayer, Nicole! :D
Hugs, and happy Monday ;)
I work multiple part-time jobs, so just when I'm finally getting something done, I have to check the time, change my clothes, and head to one of my low-paying jobs. Sigh...
I write by staying up late at night a couple of times a week, knowing I'll be walking into walls all the next day, then going to bed as soon as I get home from my second job. I also try to squeeze in time on Sundays, when my family is trying to get me to spend time with them! More than a time machine, I need a way to be invisible, so they won't see me sitting at the laptop feverishly working!
I feel your pain. I had to step away from my computer due to a family issue and when I went back I had over 1000 e-mails. I panicked because in all that I knew there was the big one I've been waiting for. So I did what any other sane woman would do, I poured a glass of wine and stopped time. Well after the third glass it felt like time stopped. : )
It's hard to juggle, but don't pull your hair out, just sit back, take a deep breath and a big gulp then type. Everything falls into place eventually.

More than sympathize, I empathize. Sometimes I feel like a spend more time with my laptop than my own children. Sometimes I just dread opening my email because of the backlog, but the more I put it off the worse it gets. The most time consuming activity for me is chatting with online friends for hours on end. I never seem to get any work done when that happens and I have to resolve not to do it. And forget about gaming. Don't get sucked in or you may never work again!
I suspect that unpinning the wifi from my laptop would help but I can't live without Google..... I seem to get up earlier and earlier just to deal with the routine stuff before I can start writing...
Just think, one day when you're a rich writer you can hire an assistant that can do all the internet promos for you.
