I’m a morning person. Have been for as long as I can remember. Usually
this is a good thing, as I can get a lot of work done, especially related to my
writing, while the rest of my family is asleep. Or so I thought.
My husband and daughter are both afternoon people. Not night hawks, but
they function better about mid-day after they’ve had a couple hours to wake up.
That works for me.
Then my son came along. I hoped he would be the same as them. But no. He
has to be a morning person. Just like me.
Only he doesn’t want to get out of bed that early in the morning
(between 5 AM and 7 AM). No, he’d rather call “MOMMY!” and have me come running
to his room to find out what he wants. Nothing. He just moans on his bed and
won’t say a word. He’s awake. After a couple times of him doing this, I don’t
bother anymore. And that’s when he decides to get out of bed. Chipper as a
springtime bird.
So, that’s what my mornings have become. I don’t get as much work done
then, saving it until they are at school and I have peace and quiet again.
There is the occasional day where he does sleep in, but then my
daughter, by some miracle, is up early. And it’s usually on a day where she can
sleep in, such as a PA Day or holiday. She’s more independent though and will
read or watch television until I’m ready to make breakfast.
So, tell me, what time of day do you get stuff done?
Are you an early riser, or do you prefer the night?
As his ship plummets toward Earth, Cael believes
his life to be over. His last ditch effort to save himself ends in a fiery
crash. When he wakes up, he believes he’s entered the afterlife, but his
surroundings indicate otherwise. He made it to Earth. But who saved him, and
what do they want with him?

I wouldn't call me a morning person, precisely, but I do get more accomplished if I start early. By the time 3 rolls around, I'm pretty much done for the day! (This is a problem, since I have a day job!)
I often work from 6 AM or so until it's time to get Wee Man up for school. Once he's on the bus at 8 AM I return to work and then quit around 2 or 3 PM. Here lately, tho, I've got so much on my schedule to do that I've been working from 5PM until about 6 or 7 PM to get it all done.
Not a morning person. At. All. Which sucks, since I have to be at my desk at the day job at 7:00 AM. Doesn't leave a lot of reserve for writing when I'm usually at my create most productive in the evenings.
Taryn - That's exactly the way it is with me. Though I've never been really good at sleeping in. My family hates me on Christmas morning. Thankfully, I've learned to do quiet things while they're sleeping. Or else I might get tied up on Christmas Eve. LOL I'm good until about 7 or 8 PM. After that I can only do things that don't require to much concentration.
Faith - I wish I could get a bunch done before getting my kids off to school, but youngest is usually up with me. And he tries to help. :) Yes, I've been doing things into the evening, too, just to get them done.
Jaime - I wish I had some creativity left by then, but most nights my brain feels like mush. Do you drink a lot of coffee then? I don't drink it, though I think I may start.
I have four kids, Jessica, but two are out of the house now. My youngest still with us is 8, but he's not a typical kid. He's content to do his own things and does a lot of reading by the living room lamp or in his bdrm. If he's home from school, he's usually up early, but he seldom bothers me when I'm working unless he wants something besides cereal for breakfast.
I'm not only a morning person, I'm downright perky. Luckily my husband is the same way. We both bound out of bed and whoever doesn't make it into the bathroom first has to make the coffee. This is also when we have our most animated discussions because we'll talk over the computer and newspaper. We'd probably drive anyone else nuts.
What gave me away, Jessica? Was it the dark fluid passing through the IV attached to my arm? Or the mountain of used cardboard coffee cups on the kitchen counter the tree hugged in me won't let me dispose of?
Faith - Oh, my daughter is like that. But my son, no way. He wants to cuddle, or help me with whatever I'm doing. It's not very often that he is content on his own. I'm hoping that will change as he gets older.
Tara - That is too funny. I'm not perky without a shower first thing, but I do drive my husband nuts. I try to have a conversation over breakfast, but he just looks at me as if I have two heads. Yeah, he needs coffee and a couple hours in order to function.
Jaime - Most people I know don't go without coffee in the morning. They think I'm crazy. Maybe, I am. LOL But if I could have an Iced Cappuccino from Tim Horton's every morning, without gaining any weight, I probably would. BTW, Tim Horton's is kind of like your Dunkin' Donuts. I think. We have five of them in our small city. And they're always busy.
Hm... I'm not an early morning person. I will wake up at 7:30 by the latest every day. It's a struggle to sleep later unless I utterly exhausted. That being said, I do wake up around 6:30-7am. My daughter wakes up around 7:30 am, but doesn't go to sleep until 9-10 pm now. (sigh) It has become a challenge to accomplish much of any thing. (sigh)
Oh, Jessica, I'm Canadian. I know Timy's. :)
Hey Marci! That is sleeping in for me. I'm usually up shortly after five, mostly because if I don't grab a shower that early, I'm likely to be interrupted as others get up. We try to get the kids to bed between 8 and 9 though my daughter tries to stay up later and later all the time.
Jaime - Sorry, I forgot you were Canadian. I'm sure you know how addictive Timy's can be. :)
Addictive? What? *wonders when hubby will get home with my Tim's* No idea what you mean by that...lol!
