Do You Believe?

Photobucket

I believe in spirits. Yep, I do. Yesterday, on my Midnight Seductions Group,
http://groups.yahoo.com/MidnightSeductions
one of our authors, Wendi Darlin, told us she had to put her beloved pet to sleep. It was very sad. I've had to do the same thing myself. She reported an unusual occurrence as a result--check out her blog--http://nicennaughtyauthors.blogspot.com/2008/11/co-cos-smile.html -- all of which prompted a bit of discussion on our group about some of our otherworldly experiences.

This morning I read about President Elect Obama and a remark he made in regard to Nancy Reagan holding seances in the White House which he had to apologize for. Yep, Mr. Perfect slipped up (and yes, I voted for him, but realize we are all human after all...). Anyway, I had heard this about Nancy Reagan before and about other First Ladies as well. Supposedly, Hillary Clinton tried talking to Eleanore Roosevelt. Well, I get that. Let's face it, Hillary looks a lot like her (that's a joke people, actually I think Hillary is a reasonably attractive older woman--looks much better than she did when she was in the White House).

It's reported that Abraham Lincoln's wife, Mary Todd, tried to contact her two dead sons. And I believe everyone has heard about Lyndon Johnson's relationship with noted psychic Jeanne Dixon.

None of this surprises me. We as humans have long sought answers we can't find here on this plane of existence. To know if the hereafter exists. If there is anything else after we die. Quite frankly, I believe this search indicates intelligence on our part. To believe means we accept more than what we are now. I think it would be pretty arrogant of us to think this is all there is. To believe that we are all that exists. And yes, that includes my belief that we are not the only living souls in the universe.

So what do you believe? Have YOU had otherworldly experiences? Have you conferred with a psychic? Give us your thoughts.

I strongly believe. I won't go into details of why, I just 'know', for various reasons.

:o)

No problem with details. I gave a few details on my group yesterday. I've had some wonderful experiences related to the passing of my father.

I've read books by James Van Pragh that really made sense to me. Before that I thought what I was experiencing might be wishful thinking on my part.

I believe in spirits. I have seen...things. Things that cannot be explained. lol

Erotiwriter~~ I've seen things too. My dad comes to his children mostly through scent. We smell the cologne he wears. We've also had some experiences with lights and radios that turn off and on at will.

It's all quite comforting to us.

Oh yes, and I'm with you, Tess, it's been very comforting for me when it's happened.

It is very comforting to know they are still there, that they haven't just disappeared. Call me whacky, but I still natter to my nan as though she were still alive.

:o)

So glad you agree, Amanda.

We see so many movies and books that make it all seem so scary, when in fact if can be truly comforting.

I talk to my dad all the time. I have his ashes on my computer desk. Trust me, the man hears more about sex scenes than he wants to. lol

He understands and gives me strength.

It's more than belief, I know. I grew up in a house that had ghosts and I've found them other places. I've seen some, felt a lot more.

Long story short, one of the ghosts in the house I grew up in saved us from a fire.

There are a lot more stories but that was a biggie.

I definitely believe in spirits. I've had too many experiences with them not to.

I too believe it's arrogant to assume we are the only sentient beings in the multiple universes. Heck, in our universe.

I believe, I've seen and felt too much not to. My dad showed up at my birthday dinner six months after he died. I've had visits from pets after they've passed. Most of my experiences have been the good kind. But I have felt dark spirits too.

Tess MacKall said...

Wow! That's amazing, Connie. You should write all that down and compile it in a book. True ghost stories amaze me. I hate watching things that are scripted.

I'd love to read something like that.

I'm with you, Marci. I can't imagine a universe where we are the only breath of life.

The unexplainable can so easily be explained with a simple leap of faith and common sense sometimes.

Julie,

Now I'd love to know what your experiences are like with dark spirits. So far I've only experienced things with my father. All good.

I have often wondered about bad spirits and if there is a way to truly rid yourself of them.

Emmy Ellis said...

They are frightening, Tess. I had to ring a psychic once to get one out of my house. There has been another experience, but I might put that in a book and disguise it as fiction.

Amazing Em. You'll have to tell me all about it sometime.

Definitely write about it. What you felt and saw could be a best seller.

I love reading paranormals that are more about spirits and otherworldly things. I'm not quite into vamps and werewolves, etc.

Loved this blog topic, Tess!

Great post, Tess! I do believe. I have spoken to psychics before (real and not) and my family is certain we'll hear from our doggy again. She was just too spunky to stay quiet. :)

Tess,

I felt them in the fort as St. Augustine,FL. My family went there several times when my dad was stationed in FL. The last time we went, I was walking alone all over the place. I came to one of the cells, and I wanted to go in and look around, but I felt something in there that scared me. It didn't want me in there so I stayed out. I actually saw a dark spirit at shop I worked at. I was straightening clothes on the racks. Out of the corner of my eye, I thought I saw a customer wanting to speak to me. As I turned I saw a very tall dark figure with no face, it looked like it was wearing a hooded robe of some kind. Then it was gone, and I never saw it again at that shop. But things would come off the shelves for no reason there a lot.

My dad visits us too, and when he's here we smell coffee. None of us drink it so we know it's him.

Hi Faith,

Nothing like a little stirring of the soul to get peeps talking is there? lol I have always loved exploring the area of the spirit world.

Awww...Wendi, I hope your little boy is feeling better. When we lost our Scottie, I waited about a month and got the kids another pet.

Not sure I waited long enough, because they kept comparing the new one, our little Sammie to Scottie. But after a few weeks it all settled down.

I know you'll hear from your little piece of sunshine again.

Ohhh, Julie, you gave me chill bumps. I'm not sure I'd be able to handle a dark specter. I think I'd have quit that job right away. I'm easily frightened.

The first time my Dad presence was known to me it was through the lamp at his bedside table. It kept coming on and off all the time. The first day or so I just thought it was an electrical problem. I had it rewired and brought it back home and it happened again. So I plugged another lamp into the outlet and nothing happened. So none of it was electrical.

When I plugged "his" lamp in, it flickered on and off like crazy. I unplugged it and grabbed some clothes and stayed with a friend for several days.

I finally decided if it was my dad, that I had nothing to fear. When I came home, the lamp continued to flicker and then I smelled his cologne. I think my change in attitude brought on the scent and I was really afraid to tell anyone for at least three months, then confided in my brother and sis, who were relieved. They had experienced his scent as well.

I definitely believe. I often dream about things and then they happen within a short amount of time. I have a few friends who, when I am grumpy or in a bad mood, instantly say, "You saw something about me didn't you?" No matter the amount of time I spend convincing them that I didn't they never believe me.

Hi Kissa,

I've had those same kind of dreams. I've been having some pretty bad ones lately about my sixteen year old. You know the one I'm talking about. We haven't heard a word from her in two months.

So this is driving me insane. I hope these dreams are not a prediction of something bad.

Tess,

One thing my mom told me was I shouldn't worry about any spirits getting me now. Because my dad & grandpa wouldn't let anything hurt me. ;-0 It can be kind of freaky sometimes though. I love music boxes and have several. I have one with a mother & baby horse on top. It's one of the last gifts my dad gave me. I was in my room one day, a year or so after he died. When it started to play. Now it didn't just play a couple of notes, it played like it was wound up all the way. I've only wound it up once or twice since I got it. I was overcome with emotion. But when I calmed down, I tried to see if I could make it play on it's own. I couldn't you have to wind it up everytime. So I knew it was my dad stopping by to say hi.

Tess MacKall said...

What a wonderful story Julie. I love that. Your mom is right. Your good spirits will keep you safe.

The music box sounds lovely. I know it makes you smile every time you look at it.
