Ode to Chin Hair

This poem was inspired by my chin hair. It seems to perpetually grow and sprout at the most inopportune moments. (Or, at least, I realize it's there at the most inopportune moments. LOL)

Ode to Chin Hair

Oh, chin hair, how you sprout!
No matter how often I pull you out.
Bristly and white
You arrive overnight
Rearing your head in the morning light.

And sometimes at midday, you appear
When my tweezers are no where near.

How truly evil you are.
Sometimes, you go too far!

Why must you race along my chin
As if chased by the wind?
Surely, you can find
Another chin more designed
For coarse, white hair than mine.

My husband has a beard that's near a foot long, Marci. So far, he has all the facial hair in the family, thank goodness. You'll have to keep those tweezers in your pocket or something! lol!

Well, hell. I'm glad I'm not the only one who sings this song. Nothing worse than being far from a set of tweezers and I find that prickly hair. And I keep touching it, like it's going to go away. I have a pair of very expensive tweezers that I have hidden from kids, along with a good pair of scissors and a role of electrical tape - all three of which are things you need RIGHT NOW and hate to have to hunt for.

You are lucky, Jaime. These chin hairs were passed down from my mother's side. Yay me! (snort) Charlie doesn't have a beard, for which I am very grateful.

Oh, Valerie, I'm seem to pluck every morning and still they pop out in the middle of the day. I've never used electrical tape before, but I've waxed. It's been a while. One of my friends said I should do laser and remove them permanently. That would be lovely, but it doesn't work on the white ones. It seems most of mine are white when they first sprout. So, that would be a huge waste of money. I have one pair of tweezers capable of getting those hairs too. A second set wouldn't be amiss, but I'd end up with them in my purse. If I found one in traffic, I'd stop and have to pull it out instead of keep touching it in hopes it will disappear. (g)

By the way, did either of you follow the link at the end? That's some serious chin hair!

The secret stash of tweezers, scissors and electrical tape (and scotch tape) are a catch-all. All parents know that none of these items are sacred in a house with kids. I don't use electrical tape on my chin hairs. Those suckers are too determined to stick around for electrical tape to tackle. LOL

That is too funny, Marci. I think we can all relate to this one. And what about the hairs that form above your lip? I don't have that problem but my daughter does and now she wants me to help her get rid of it. Bleaching is the only thing I could suggest to her!

Fortunately, Valerie, Lily is still to small for the tweezers, and she's not so interested in the electrical tape yet. However, finding my scissors and regular tape at times is a challenge, especially when she can't remember where she out them. LOL Of course, I dot laugh at the tIme I'm searching for them.

I used to have a lot of hair on my lip, Janice. Now I only have one, and the rest have migrated to my chin where they sprout daily. What helped my lip, I think, were years of waxing. I don't do it as much, but I certainly could use it right now. (g)

Patti, I'm afraid to write an ode to lip hair for fear that might encourage it to grow. (g)
